NHAI against staff inclusion in cadre
The strengthening of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) by creating its own cadre has been delayed further, as its board has rejected a proposal to absorb 50 per cent of the existing staff into its own cadre. The authority currently has only around 10 per cent of the present staff as permanent employees and the rest are on deputation.

Two human rights activists held
Two human rights activists have been arrested here by the West Bengal Crime Investigation Department for their alleged links with Maoists and PCPA top brass in Lalgarh. Gana Pratirodh Committee secretary Raja Sarkhel and state secretary of the same human rights organisation Prasun Chatterjee were picked up from their residence in Jadavpur in the southern part of the city last night.
