Shell to transfer jobs to India, Philippines
To reduce costs, global oil major Shell will soon transfer additional office jobs from Houston and elsewhere to India and the Philippines. Royal Dutch Shell has also announced that it would slash 5,000 jobs by the year-end, including ‘hundreds’ in Houston, as part of a sweeping reorganisation new CEO Peter Voser said was needed to make the company more competitive.

Markets in red in opening trades

The Sensex opened with a marginal positive gap of 23 points at 17,031. However, the index quickly slipped to a low of 16,907- down 102 points. ICICI Bank, Reliance and ACC have dropped 1-2% each. Meanwhile, Infosys has gained 3% at Rs 2,230. Hero Honda, Sterlite, Bharti Airtel and ITC have added over 1% each.
