India Cements Q3 net dips 44% to Rs 35 cr
India Cements, a South-based cement maker, has posted a decline of 43.79 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended December, 2009 at Rs 34.8 crore compared with Rs 61.91 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. The company’s net sales during the quarter stood at Rs 864.12 crore against Rs 754.82 crore last year, up 14.48 per cent.

City traffic project by 2010

For financial year 2007-08 and 2008-09, the government has released Rs 44 crore and Rs 38 crore respectively and for 2009-10, the government has already approved Rs 40 crore for the project which will be implemented by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation, City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here today. The project, claimed to be the first such in the country, is aimed at complementing the efforts being made by other agencies to upgrade road infrastructure and efficient mass transportation system. Highlighting an important component of the project which involves equipping every police officer with ‘blackberry’ for automated enforcement thereby phasing out paper-based notice books, he said “within a month of the implementation of the project, the whole traffic system will be automated”.
